Volunteer at Minnehaha Food Shelf

We are experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand. Between 2023 and 2025, the average number of households that we serve on a weekly basis has grown from 194 to 283. Supporting that demand requires additional volunteers.  We need assistance with unloading trucks, food distribution setup and takedown, inventory management, registering/checking in clients, Spanish-English interpretation, community outreach, volunteer coordination, social media support and other vital tasks. Many volunteer positions require being on-site during our open hours (Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), but others do not.

“I love to volunteer because it’s fun,” said longtime volunteer Jetta W. “I love the team that I’m on, and I love that we get to have a positive impact on the lives of hungry people. I can’t think of a better use of my time.”

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer — or you would like additional information — please contact us at foodshelfvolunteers@minnehaha.org. Thank you.

Regretfully, we are unable to accommodate drop-in support at this time.
